Sunnyhaven Disability Services is a leading not for profit provider of Disability Services in the St George and Sutherland Shire areas. As a Direct Support Worker, you will be working to support the well-being of participants by understanding their needs, preferences and interests. The role includes a range of direct support services including personal and daily care to people with disabilities to help achieve their personal goals and aspirations, meet their physical, emotional and social needs to ensure a quality life with dignity, respect and social inclusion.

Selection Criteria:

– Knowledge of the complex needs of people with disabilities and strategies to enhance their abilities with genuine commitment to them in a service delivery environment.

– Ability to support residents to develop personal care, health care and hygiene, e.g. eating, dressing, toileting and bathing.

– Computer literacy and administration skills – good knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

– Demonstrated communication, organisational, time management and interpersonal skills.

– Ability to relate well to people we support and their families in delivering high quality outcomes.

– Ability to work independently and/or part of a team to pursuit team goals, sharing information, contributing to resolutions in a respectful manner.

– Knowledge of the NSW Disability Services Act and Disability Standards, Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations and Anti-Discrimination Act.

Qualifications & Education:

– Australian Driver’s Licence (Full licence)

– Current First Aid Certificate

– Current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)

– NDIS worker clearance (or willing to obtain)

NOTE – Disability Support Workers – Accommodation – willingness to work shift-work on a 7 day roster including weekends, sleepover shifts and public holidays as required.
